Logo design is one of the most interesting design of all. A logo stands for the whole company, it represents the company (group, organization...) and the spirit of that company. A catchy and impressive logo may do better in attracting people and getting more people know more about the company than a good marketing plan. There are extremely successful logos that we recognize at once and their brands are also globally famous such as NIKE, APPLE, LOUIS VUITTON... All those logos are quite simple but powerful and impressive.
Following is two logo designs that I found interesting and I want to share with you those logos as well as my thought about why they are meaningful and impressive. There are many kinds of logo, initial logo (letters), shape logo, graphic logo...And the two logo below is initial logos and they are quite simple.
Here's the first one
This is a logo of a website about sharing service, specifically mail, and we can send and store mails with big storage capacity up to 1Gb.
As we look at the box symbol, with the down-directed arrow, we can partly recognize what the web is about. The box is used when something big and heavy is store, but here, the box is empty, presents light condition. This is the idea of the designer with the meaning that however big or heavy the mails are, they can be stored easily.
About the letters, "Drop" is black, creates heavy feelings, along with down-directed tail "p". "Send" is orange, cleverly changed from dark to light orange at the end of "d", subtly creates a light feeling. Moreover, the up-directed "d" tail means there is no weight at all. The logo is simply impressive.
The second logo is also a website's name.
Your eyes are not always loyal, sometimes they cheat you. Below are some pictures in which you can see how your eyes are cheating you.
what do you see in this pic? I see nine dolphins :D
which one of the two center circles is bigger? the left one? be careful. they are exactly the same
Oh, he's a big "LIAR"
Can you believe what's happening in this pic?
They are all parallel straight lines!!! Don't you believe? Hint is all the black and white rectangulars are in same size
Sometimes the outside is "good" but the inside is " evil"
Hey! Be cool! Nothing's moving. It's just a till picture.
Cheers
After a couple of week wrestling with flash, this is my interface for my portfolio. The idea came from the movie industry, which I'm really interested in, I thought "what's something that you see remind you of the movie, that you recognize it at once when you see it?", so I came up with the clapper, because the clapper is used in every film producing progress.
The white letters which dedicate to each categoriy of my portfolio are also buttons for that category. Once you click on it, a yellow line with run along the rectangle box then the clapper will clap tremendously (not that much) to start one category. But this is just the image version, not flash, so you can't click on itself (of course). Besides, the film roll is slowly rolling all the time, it's also one of the most important part in film industry.
I think this interface is not really catchy but I like the idea of it. Cause I'm a person who love film a lot.
How do you think about it? Tell me, I won't bite you. :D
When this assignment was given, I thought that a crying tiger may be a good idea, with the slogan "teardrop of the king". But on the second thought, it wasn't a good and meaningful idea. Then I came up with the ideal with the skeleton. Actually, my thought was about a short advertising video with movement not just a poster, but I was about to make a poster, so I decided to took out a scene on that video to make this poster. I'll do that video later, with flash I guess, cause I can't go outside and shoot anything I want for that video. And now is my work. what do you think?
Actually, this is not what I gave Liping as my official poster, I fixed it a little bit. In this one, the phrase "the only thing left" is just a little more higher than in the real one. This makes the poster looks not so tight, so narrow. Indeed, when I was working with this poster, I was working on a quite bigger background, like an A3, so it had more space. Then I crop it into an A4, I had to adjust the words to fit in an A4, so everything looks tight. And the WWF logo distributes to make the poster look even more narrow. You see, a little bit but makes difference.
One more interesting thing was when I had this poster printed, the one who printed for me say "You're making a book cover or something?" I suddenly realized that it looks really like a book cover, hohoho. Don't you recognize that? that left haft is the back, and the right haft is the front of the book. I think it's also really nice when it's a real book cover.
I'm sure that you all know Heineken and used to see some of its ads on TV. They're fantastic. I've seen a lot of ads from Heineken and some are boring, normal, but some are really awesome. Following is one of my most favorite ads all the time that I can found. There are a lot more interesting ads I used to see but I couldn't find them.
I love the way the story is. The man runs out of beer, goes out to pick up more, when he realizes that everything is transforming, turning back into old days like 1930s. The way they make everything transformed is spectacular, look really cool and lively. All the cars, buildings, stores' hoardings, people, fashion, and even the road, everything. Then he goes out of the cab to make it clear, when he finds out the truth, everything changes but HEINEKEN. "It's exactly the same". COOL.
Here is another funny and interesting Heineken advertisement.
I love advertising, not only Heineken's, it's just one of my favorite.
How do you think about advertising? and what other ads you have seen that you find interesting? Why? Can you share them with me?
At the beginning, I decided to choose REVENTON for my car tracing assignemnt, I even got started, but when I found out that lots of people were doing with Lamborghini, I changed my mind. And I turned to find my other favorite brands, BMW, but the problem was I intended to find a traced edition BMW 6-series which I'm really love, just like I had done with my Reventon to make it easier, I didn't find one. But still do it though it's more difficult for me.
This is the original image i found on internet
And this my work
Maybe it's the only BMW that has been traced in this semester :D, however I'm not satisfied with this work so much actually. I'm really not. It doesn't look like what I've planned it to be, hichic. What do you think? It's not excellent, I know, but is it good enough?
Amazing Hand Painting - For more funny videos, click here
When you first look at his work, I bet you thought it's weird, right? Even when he nearly finished his painting, I still could not get what he was doing. However, I kept watching him because I thought that he tried to do something and dance with the light music. Amazingly, lastly he turn it, it was a man smiling in his picture. Moreover, he's so talent when he was spinning and drawing by just using his hands.
What do you think when you first see these pictures? Do they surprise you? "Surprice? What do you mean by surprise? They're just animal pictures. There's nothing special at all" Do you think that. Maybe. Because It was also my thought when I first saw them. But whhy don't you look more carefully, slowly to see how very special they are. They are spectacular special. They are not animals, I mean real animals, they just look like animals. Yes, that's called "Body Painting Art". They are hands and they're amazing. It's one of the kind of art that I'm really interested in. It makes your hands look quite lively, quite vivid as you're seeing real animals even with just painting brush.
These pictures have a very strange and beautiful name "Handimals", they are created by an Italian artist Guido Daniele. I think it's magnificently creative when he can combine his painting talent and his imagination. To do these "handimals", he must decide what shape of the hands can create to make suitable animals. As you can see, animals are created by different shapes and states of our hands, and if you don't do the right shape, the right hand gesture, you can't express the right animals. And be noticed that when the artist paint on hands, they're not in the shape that we see in those pictures. We have to straight out hands to be painted on easily. You know what I mean, right?
How do you think about that?
That is really interesting.
Cheers.

This is what I've studied in class. I'm very interested in the blur effect and the history brush tool. These are some simple images using that tool and blur effect.

These are just really simple moves that I believe that all of you can do. But I hope the idea somehow starts some great ideas in you.

This is the Type Creature assignment from DIM I. I really like it so I want to share it with others. The work is the combination of alphabet letters: I, J, f, C, w, o (but it really looks like an "a"), v, numbers: 3 and 6, and other characters: dot, exclamation mark, parenthesis.
I think the most important step for this task is choosing the type face. It depends on which animal designers want to depict and how they want to expect the creature to be, whether it's soft, tender or hard look. Once you choose the right font face, you can easily design the creature.
About my work, I chose the chicken because it's not too complicated and it's not too simple either. Actually, it's not exactly what i was thinking. When I saw it, I just felt right, so I chose it, with no specific reasons, whether it was difficult to express or not.
And it was really interesting when I started choosing the font for my chicken. It was quite a confusion. The chicken is so tender, but lots of the fonts are so tough. Fortunately, I found Zafpino which I discovered later that it was the font made only for Macintosh. phew! Done. I felt really satisfied when the work was finished. I really love this, how about you?
I have an idea. Why don't you try to figure out where all the letters, numbers and characters I mentioned are.
